Friends Getting Married

We love when our friends get engaged. Not only because we can capture their smiling looks of new love, but because they found their person. We know both of these girls from bible study, a bible study involving wine and the bible, yes this does exist. We was admiring their invitations, with Quirky Shutter photos of course, and had to inform the world of their cuteness.

Haley is a perky, outgoing, beautiful person. The first time we met she said, "hey, we should hang out." Haley has this perma-glow about her and makes you feel like life is beautiful no matter what happens. We can sometimes be a worrier so it's good to have Haley as a friend. Haley and Jordan match perfectly together and their friends seemed to think so too. The two met on a blind group date, set up by mutual friends. Haley immediately saw something special in Jordan and knew he was the one that very weekend when they went skiing. Months later, they got engaged at Alta to keep with the skiing theme.

Haley and Jordan were troopers on their engagement shoot. They carried a red canoe around a lake for the most romantic Notebook-ish photoshoot. Asking them to kiss was way too easy. Sometimes couples are a bit timid constantly kissing while having their photo taken, but Haley and Jordan were too in love to notice us and our giant camera.

Kacee is a caring, genuine person who is a delight to be around. You know those people who make you feel completely comfortable the instant you meet them? That's Kacee. She can't hide how she is feeling because her face often shows it all, and we love that. Kacee and Lucas met at house church and they soon became more than friends. Lucas then proposed at the Spiral Jetty at the Great Salt Lake. We hadn't even heard about the Spiral Jetty until their engagement, and we're now excited to add to our bucket list of Utah places.

Their engagement shoot was at Solitude right after the lifts closed. We were able to capture some ski lift photos and find some hidden spots we may or may not have been allowed to roam. Our favorite part of the day was asking Kacee to give me her, "night of the wedding bedroom eyes," and having her giggle immediately after.

We wish nothing but the best for our two engaged friends. We know each of them will look gorgeous on their wedding days and celebrate the occasion in style.

Lauren & Caleb Proposal

Another photographer and I were waiting to capture Caleb proposing. The problem was, we had never met Caleb, he only explained what he and Lauren would be wearing, and also that he was a "baldingish man." I laughed a little that this was the only feature I had to go off of. What if by some chance two people wearing white sneakers and a "baldingish" man walked by us? A little fear set in, but then I saw two people fitting the description. The other photographer pretended to take pictures of me while she captured Caleb talking to Lauren, great name, right? Then she signaled me to turn around and my heart sank. I had to keep my composure and keep shooting. As he got down on one knee I could see her joy, surprise and her deep love for Caleb. I circled around after it was clear she said yes, and then she pointed at me in confusion. I'm sure she was thinking, who is this creeper taking pictures of me?? Caleb whispered something in her ear and her mouth dropped, suddenly her confusion turned to shock and happiness. We would soon learn she was a pro at having her picture taken since she previosuly owned a fashion blog in San Francisco.

As we shot more and more portraits, I could feel the genuine goodness from Caleb & Lauren. These are the people you instantly want to be friends with. I could have photographed them for hours, not to mention it was cloudy that day, so the sky looked fake. Trying my best to capture their loving spirits, every click made me smile. I am so happy for Caleb & Lauren and know their wedding day will be nothing less of momentous.

Love,

Lauren at Quirky Shutter
